After work I picked Brennan up and off we went. Jones Falls in Owensound was our first real stop. We thoroughly hiked the area and visited the falls until it began to get dark.
Day two’s plans were changed due to poor weather and excess snow. The snow was too deep for safe driving in my car. We were going to drive up the Bruce Peninsula to Tobermory to visit some of the natural areas up north, but I had little faith in my car’s driving ability in the snow.
After a quick stop at a thrift store to purchase extra layers for warmth we went to two main stops near our Air Bnb! First was the Hibou Conservation Area followed by a packed lunch eaten in the car.
After lunch in the car – we set out to Bruce’s Caves for the rest of the daylight! The snow was beautiful to see and experience – but a pain to drive in. We hiked the 850m to the parking lot to get to the hiking trail entrance to the caves and continued in until the cold became too much.
Inglis Falls then home! The snow storm was really coming down and we had freezing rain to drive through on the way home which made me very anxious.
Overall we had a fun and memorable trip. I look forward to more trips in the future – preferably with less snow though!
